Tile grouting and joint sealing — Tiler — Professionals

Accept the identified grouting or flexible-sealing work within your tiling competence. Record the substrate, joint function, product compatibility and any separate waterproofing or stone-treatment requirements.

Service scope

Finishing tile joints after installation or repair, covering specified grouting and flexible-joint sealing as distinct operations. The request identifies the tile or stone surface, joint location and required treatment; protective surface sealers and underlying waterproofing are not automatically included.

What is normally included

  • Inspect the specified tile joints and existing material
  • Carry out agreed grouting or flexible-joint sealing
  • Finish and check the treated joints within the agreed scope

What is not included

  • Grout is not a substitute for flexible sealant
  • No automatic stone impregnation or tanking work
  • Treating grout, flexible sealant and stone sealer as interchangeable
  • Assuming joint finishing replaces underlying waterproofing
  • Protective stone impregnation or underlying tanking unless separately commissioned

Qualification checks

  • Confirm the grouting, flexible joint sealing, or both
  • Confirm the tile/stone material and joint position
  • Confirm the new work or replacement of failed joints
  • Check joint preparation requirements and compatibility with the tile or stone finish
  • Agree curing time and whether underlying movement or leakage needs separate investigation

Quote guidance

Itemise grouting and flexible sealing using appropriate measured quantities. Identify removal, preparation, access and protection separately; do not add stone impregnation or tanking without an explicit brief.

Lead risks

  • Joint treatment will not by itself remedy failed underlying waterproofing
  • The wrong joint material or poorly prepared substrate can undermine the finish
