Masonry water-repellent surface treatment — Damp proofing specialist — Professionals
Scope a masonry surface treatment only after assessing the substrate and moisture mechanism. Keep injections, active-leak repairs and structural waterproofing as different commissions.
Service scope
Assessment and application of a specified water-repellent treatment to a suitable masonry surface after the moisture mechanism and substrate have been identified. Surface impregnation is not automatically a treatment for rising damp, internal condensation, active leakage or permanent water pressure.
What is normally included
- Assess masonry condition and the moisture mechanism
- Prepare the agreed suitable surface
- Apply the specified compatible water-repellent surface treatment
What is not included
- No universal damp cure
- Injection and structural waterproofing require separate scope
- An assumed injection or coating specification
- Applying a treatment solely because a wall is damp
- Injected damp-proof courses and structural waterproofing
- A universal cure for rising damp, condensation or active leakage
Qualification checks
- Confirm the substrate and exposure
- Confirm the moisture diagnosis
- Confirm the proposed surface product versus injection treatment
- Check product suitability for the identified masonry and any existing coating
- Confirm that active defects or a different moisture mechanism are not being concealed by surface treatment
Quote guidance
Price the treated surface area, preparation, materials and access. State the excluded moisture mechanisms and any separately necessary repair work.
Lead risks
- An unsuitable surface treatment may leave the underlying moisture cause unaddressed
- Substrate condition and previous coatings can limit compatibility
